Our story

One family, one company, one story

mia food tech azienda team

A small chocolate praline, as round as the world that lies behind its production. This is the story of one family and many others who have been revolving for years around a planet dedicated to the food industry.

Machines are typically viewed as not having a heart, but the Murialdo family has succeeded in making these inanimate objects come to life. Time and experience have enabled a small company to grow and produce a range of stand-alone machines that over the years have been expanded to include fully automatic lines and turnkey systems.

Mia Food Tech, the continuation and renewal of the previous company, passed down from father to son, oversees every step of the creation process through component design and development. The great care taken over the operational safety of our technology highlights the company’s sensitivity and responsibility towards the people who use our equipment every day.

It is precisely this care and attention that is the key to the success of this Piedmont-based business. Mia Food Tech is also a reference point for customers through its after-sales support service. The company maintains close links with customers through its support service, both in Italy and abroad.

Timely interventions and a professional approach are the fundamental qualities that ensure support and trust, cementing the company’s leadership on the Italian and international market.

Choosing Mia Food Tech means becoming part of an idea that started out as a project and developed into a well-established and highly regarded business organization.

Eleanor Roosevelt said, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” This is the story of a company, a family, new partners and their shared dream.

The birth of Officine Meccaniche Murialdo

The past teaches us that grand ideas can start out in a simple garage. This was the starting point, back in 1985, from where Silvano Murialdo set off on the adventure of his life. The birth of Officine Meccaniche Murialdo.

As the years went by, the headquarters was moved to Castiglione Falletto. New and important customers, operating in the area, arrived on the scene, as the company continued to grow. Production of new machines got under way, followed by the first maintenance and support programs for purchasers.

Creating the team

1993 saw a significant increase in the number of staff, rising to 25 employees who worked together to manage and produce prototypes, both in the food and sports industry.

At the end of 1995 and the beginning of 1996, another member of the Murialdo family joined the company, namely Silvano Murialdo’s son, Luca, who had recently graduated with a degree in engineering.
Through his contribution, the company’s path took a decisive turn towards the food industry.

Luca’s love of confectionery was the perfect match for the new production projects. A period of experimentation, analysis and in-depth study of raw materials got under way, aimed at optimizing and specializing in the development of new technologies. Through Luca Murialdo’s innovative vision, the company gained a strong foothold in the food industry and major new names on the national scene were added to the company’s long-standing customer base.

Manufacture of the first industrial lines

The first line of machines for the production of nut brittle dates back to 1999, a period that ushered in the start of the manufacture of the first continuous feed industrial lines. The company’s focus was concentrated on nougat and the production of machines for small-medium nougat production companies, establishing itself as the leader in the field. A leadership that it still proudly maintains today.

The birth of the first brand

The Mia Food Tech brand, the corporate branch of Officine Meccaniche, was created in 2005, the same year in which the company expanded the production process of the longitudinal and transverse cutting stage of the product mixture.

The story shifts to beautiful Sardinia where a lunch between Luca and one of the company’s long-standing customers proved to be decisive. It was this occasion that resulted in the idea of modifying the fledgling brittle production line and using it to make fresh fruit bars, that were starting to appear on the small production market.

The first partnerships

Between 2005 and 2012, the company started participating in the first trade fairs, both in Italy and abroad, leading to partnerships with agents and external resellers.

The support of the Rural Development Program (funding aimed at supporting rural development among other things) enabled the company to initiate the switch to the production of nut processing machines (ROASTERS, CHOPPING MACHINES, BALL MILLS). The system enables the autonomous control of the production process during which the nut is transformed at each stage. The characteristics of the nut are altered along a path that begins with roasting, followed by chopping and ending with the refining process. As had happened years before, a new positive change came once again from the winning partnership between customers and the company, coupled with Luca’s ability to implement innovation.

2015 heralded introduction of the automatic lines for the production of energy and nut bars through the adaptation of previous projects.

The new start

A sinister character, in the guise of Covid, also found its way into this story, taking everyone by surprise and hitting companies hard, especially family-run businesses. It was a period of immense change and sacrifice for everyone, but here again, the youngest member of the Murialdo family demonstrated a spirit of initiative and ability to adapt.

The first small machines were designed and developed for the production of snack bars (EASY BARS and MINI BARS). Luca reduced the overall dimensions of the large industrial lines by designing systems capable of laminating and cutting the product mixtures.

A new administration

In 2023, Luca Murialdo, hitherto the company’s sole administrator, made the decision the grow the company by injecting new life into it through the sale of company shares.

In April, the CG S.S. Group made its official entry into the corporate structure of Officine Meccaniche Murialdo srl.

The approach of the new CEO immediately highlighted the main aim of consecrating the position of the Mia Food Tech brand at the pinnacle of the industry worldwide.

Thanks to the Murialdo family and everyone who believed in and worked towards the growth of this company, this was not the end of the story but the beginning of a new one.

This is where the new story begins, with endless possibilities, set against the backdrop of Piedmont and starring motivated, enlightened young entrepreneurs with great respect for all the hard work done in the past. When you bite into a snack bar, take the time to savor it and consider just how many snippets of life
are hidden among its flavors.
